PressCane Limited, a subsidiary of Press Corporation Limited, has indicated that preparations to list on the Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE) are at an advanced stage.
This came out on the sidelines of a recent business breakfast organised by MSE in Blantyre to orient would-be-listed companies on the local bourse on corporate governance.
PressCane Chief Executive Officer Bryson Mkhomaanthu said the company is considering and exploring listing.
“We are looking at a share listing. At first, we are exploring, our shareholders are discussing and I think, very soon, we should be able to disclose the dates but I hope we can close this very soon.
“Many things are coming up and it’s important that we gather and continue talking to each other, giving updates and updating all of us on things that are trending and so on and so forth,” Mkomaanthu said.

In an earlier interview, Stockbrokers Malawi Limited Equity Research Analyst Kondwani Makwakwa said increasing the number of companies could bring substantial benefits to the market and Malawians in general.
“Moreover, having more companies listed will promote price discovery, ensuring that stock prices more accurately reflect their fundamental values.
“From an economic perspective, increasing the number of listed companies will enable them to raise capital more effectively. These funds can then be used for expansion and innovation, driving economic growth and development. This, in turn, will create jobs and boost productivity across the economy,” Makwakwa said.
PressCane Limited is one of Malawi’s largest manufacturers of ethanol and alco-base products.
