Airtel Malawi on Wednesday announced the appointed seasoned banker and corporate leader, Kayisi Sadala, as its board chairperson, a role he said he embraces with humility and profound gratitude.
Sadala, who is also Chief Executive Officer for the National Economic Empowerment Fund takes over the mantle from George Partridge, who was recently appointed Governor for the Reserve Bank of Malawi.
In a statement, Airtel Malawi Company Secretary Christopher Chibwana, said Sadala’s appointment is effective February 20.
He has previously served as interim chairperson of the company during several transitional periods, according to the statement.
“His appointment as the chairperson, therefore, reflects a considered and orderly succession plan that builds on his proven leadership and familiarity with the company,” Chibwana says in the statement.
