Silver Strikers and Mighty Wanderers have welcomed Super League of Malawi (Sulom)’s decision to move their top-of-the-table clash to Bingu National Stadium (BNS) in Lilongwe this coming Saturday.
The match was initially scheduled for Silver Stadium.
Sulom General Secretary Williams Banda said the league governing body moved the match to BNS after considering several factors.
“[The factors include] pitch condition due to rains and expectation of the number of spectators’ due profile of the game. So, in a bid to mitigate those associated risks and that Bingu is their alternative venue in adherence to existing regulation, we changed the match venue timely,” Banda said.
Early this year, Sulom also moved the launch match between Silver and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets to BNS, where it ended 1-0 in favour of the latter.

In reaction to development, Silver Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Patrick Chimimba said he was happy that Sulom accepted their request.
“It is a big game; so, we considered several factors including the condition of the pitch and safety of stakeholders,” he said.
The two teams will face each other two weeks after they also met in the 2025 Pachema FDH Bank Cup final, which Silver triumphed 5-4 on post-match penalties at the same venue.
On his part, Wanderers CEO Panganeni Ndovi also welcomed the decision.

“It is a good decision to change the venue considering that the Silver Stadium pitch is not in good condition. We also raised a number of concerns on the safety of the spectators. It is in the best interest of the game and the spectators,” Ndovi said.
Currently, Wanderers are top of the 16-member log table with 51 points from 21 matches, one point above second-placed FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, who have played a match more.
Silver are third with 40 points from 20 matches.
Wanderers and Silver shared the spoils in the first round following a 1-1 stalemate at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
