Malawi Women’s National Football Team striker Temwa Chawinga scored one goal for her club Wuhan Jiangda in 5-0 win over Henan Jianye (Women) in the Chinese Women’s League on Wednesday.
This is Temwa’s first match for the club after winning the 2023 Cosafa Women’s Championship with the Scorchers in South Africa where she was named player of the tournament and also won the golden boot award with nine goals.
Temwa has taken her goal-tally to 23 as the league’s top goal scorer with five matches to wind up the season.
“It feels good to continue from where I left. We have five crucial games to defend the league,’’ Temwa said.
In total, the former DD Sunshine (now Silver Strikers Ladies) has scored 44 goals in all competitions in China.
