Mighty Mukuru Wanderers President Thomson Mpinganjira has dissolved the club’s national and regional supporters committees just days after appointing a new board of directors.
Mpinganjira has announced the dissolution through a letter dated February 1 and titled ‘Dissolution of the supporters’ board, the national supporters committee and the regional supporters committees’.
“Take notice that Mighty Wanderers Football Club (2021) Ltd has dissolved the supporters board, the national supporters committee and the regional supporters committees. The dissolution is with immediate effect. All matters requiring the attention of the dissolved bodies shall be directed to the Board Secretary, Mr Chancy Gondwe,” the letter reads.
Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Roosevelt Mpinganjira said the president has powers to dissolve any board as he wishes.
“I can confirm that the president has made this decision and we are only waiting for the next course of action,” he said.
Wanderers supporters chairperson Dines Chitsulo said he remains an ardent supporter of the team.
“The president’s decision is very welcome and, as supporters, we should support those who will be appointed to lead the club in various positions both at regional and national levels, and if it pleases the leadership to give me a role to play, I will do my best to help my beloved team,” Chitsulo said.
Wanderers finished the 2023 season empty-handed despite boasting sound sponsorship and an expensive squad replete with talent.
