Ndirande Stars have ascended to the top of the NBS Bank National Division League (NDL) after defeating Changalume Barracks 4-2 at Zomba Stadium on Saturday.
Ndirande Team Manager Kuruwa Ngwira said the side was determined to earn promotion to the elite league.
“We will fight tooth and nail to get the title. We know it will be tough but, on our second attempt, we want to get it right,” Ngwira said.
Ndirande lead the NBS Bank National Division League (NDL) log table on goal difference as they share seven points each with Songwe Border United, who are second and Embangweni United on third. Just one point separates the top four teams after the three rounds of action as Extreme FC occupy fourth place with six points while on fifth place is Fomo FC, which has five points.
Two teams have not earned a single point, so far; Namitete Zitha on 11th and Changalume Barracks while Chilobwe United (9th) and Bangwe All Stars (10th) each have one point while lying in the relegation zone.

Namitete Zitha and Chilobwe United did not play in Match Week 3, which was scheduled for Owen Malijani Stadium in Mchinji on Sunday.
The teams did not play following the passing of Chilobwe technical director Rodgers Yasin—thus a minute of silence was observed in honour of the veteran coach ahead of this weekend’s matches.
