Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has pumped K50 million into the 2023 Goshen Fam Women’s Championship which got underway at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe yesterday.
This brings the total package for the championship to K71 million after Goshen City contributed K21 million.
Fam Competitions and Communications Director Gomezgani Zakazaka said the K50 million is for teams’ prizes, subvention, officiation and general organisation of the tournament.
Zakazaka said Goshen City’s package will cater for uniforms, match balls, medals and individual awards.
“Each of the 10 teams at the competition will get a K1 million subvention. There will also be another K1 million to four teams that will reach the semi-finals. This means subvention alone is taking up K14 million,’’ he told the association’s website.

“This is a great opportunity for the girls to showcase their talent and skills. We want women’s teams to qualify for international tournaments and compete well there,” Kusakala said.
National Women’s Football Association Chairperson Adellaide Migogo said the teams are well motivated because of the support.
