Ascent Academy and MDF Lionesses will face each other in the final of the Goshen/Fam Women’s National Championship at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe Sunday.
At stake is K8 million and a place at this year’s Caf Champions League Cosafa qualifiers to be staged in August in South Africa.
For Ascent, this is their second final whereas Lionesses are appearing in their maiden final since they were formed three years ago.
Interestingly, the two sides have met four times in regional playoffs with Ascent dominating their fixtures.
This could be a chance for Lionesses to break their Ascent jinx.

Ascent produced a dominant performance as they beat Silver Strikers Ladies 2-0 in an early kick off at the same venue.
Silver Ladies were hoping for revenge against Ascent after they lost 3-2 in the regional play-offs.
But it was another bad day at the office for the Reserve Bank of Malawi-sponsored side.
Defender Ruth Nyirongo scored into her own net in the first half before Atuweni Njirima doubled the lead in the second half.

Ascent coach Thom Mkolongo praised his charges for a spirited performance.
“It was a very tough match but the girls played according to our game-plan. We have no time to celebrate as we are now focusing on the final,” Mkolongo said.
Silver Ladies coach Andrew Chikhosi conceded defeat.
“It was not our day and we were second on the ball,” Chikhosi said.
Ascent were runners up in the competition last year after a 5-3 loss to Kukoma Ntopwa Women on post-penalties at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.
In a late kick off, Lionesses beat Civil Service United Women 3-0. Fazila Chiyembekeza scored brace with the other goal coming from Mervis Misomali.
Lionesses have been in good form, scoring goals for fun in this competition.
Coach John Kaputa said his target is to win the competition.
“We are taking each game as it comes. But our mission is to win the cup,” Kaputa said.
Civil coach Collins Pofera said his side gave Lionesses too much respect.
“We started slowly and we gave them cheap goals,” Pofera said.
