Capital City giants Silver Strikers made a statement of intent when they beat Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 2-0 at a jam-parked Silver Stadium Sunday.
In so doing, they opened a six-point gap at the summit of the log table.
It was a perfect revenge for the Central Bankers, having lost 1-0 in the Kamuzu Day Ceremonial match at Kamuzu Stadium on Tuesday in Blantyre.
Goals from Chikondi Kamanga and Zebron Kalima were enough to secure maximum points for the Central Bankers, who are chasing their first Super League title in 11 years.
The victory means Silver have 19 points from seven matches, six points above second-placed FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, who also registered a 2-0 victory over Mzuzu City Hammers at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.

On the other hand, Wanderers have descended to position four on the log table with 12 points, five behind Silver, after playing the same number of matches.
Both teams went into the match unbeaten and the match lived up to expectations as both teams displayed good football to entertain the huge crowd.
It was a match of high intensity but Silver had an upper hand for the better part of the match. However, both teams lacked composure in front of goal.
Macdonald Lameck missed the best chance for Silver before Christopher Kumwembe missed another chance for Wanderers in the first half.

Wanderers made a double change after recess as they introduced Clement Nyondo and Vincent Nyangulu for Isaac Kaliati and Kumwembe, respectively.
After a barren first half, Kamanga broke the deadlock in the 57th minute.
The goal was a beauty that sent Silver fans into ecstasy.
Kamanga fired a powerful shot into the top corner of the net, beating goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa after getting a pass from Chimwemwe Idana.
Kalima doubled the lead with a thunderous shot from outside the box in the 84th minute.

It was game over for Wanderers.
Not surprisingly, Silver midfielder Uchizi Vunga was named man-of-the-match in his second consecutive match.
After the match, Silver Coach Peter Mponda said his team deserved the victory.
“It was a convincing performance from the players and we dominated Wanderers in the match.
“However, we should not get carried away with the results,” Mponda said.
On his part, Wanderers Assistant Coach Meck Mwase admitted that his charges were second on the ball.
“We failed to create chances throughout the match but not all is lot,” Mwase said.
Elsewhere, Karonga United and Civil Service United shared the spoils after a 1-1 stalemate at Karonga Stadium.
Ellie Kayombo scored for Karonga, with Muhamad Biason equalising for the Lilongwe-based side.
Dedza Dynamos and Chitipa fired blanks following a goal-less stalemate.
