UP IN CONTEST—Wanderers and Creck

NOT COMPLACENT—Mpinganjira

Mighty Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira has warned his charges not to underrate Creck Sporting Club when they face each other in the FDH Bank Premiership at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre this afternoon.

Both teams are coming from victories in their respective matches in the FDH Bank Premiership last week.

Wanderers claimed a 1-0 victory over Silver Strikers at Silver Stadium whereas Creck defeated Moyale Barracks 2-1 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

However, Wanderers go into the match with a good record against Creck across all competitions.

The Nomads have never lost a match to Creck.

Their recent match was in the Airtel Top 8 quarterfinals first leg which ended 1-1 at Aubrey Dimba Stadium in Mchinji District but the Nomads progressed after they won the first leg 2-0 at Mpira Stadium.

Wanderers also beat Creck 2-1 in the FDH Bank Premiership at Aubrey Dimba Stadium.

For the Nomads, this is an opportunity to go top of the log table as they currently trail leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets by one point from 16 matches. Bullets lead the table with 33 points and they will face Mafco at Civo Stadium tomorrow.

Despite having a good record, Mpinganjira said they are not underestimating Creck.

SEEKING RESULT—Mtawali

“It is a difficult match because Creck want to get a win against us. We are not looking at the performance of Creck and their position. We will treat them as they come,” Mpinganjira said.

Wanderers will be without defender Alex Kambilinya due to suspension but captain Emmanuel Nyirenda is available for selection.

Creck are still stuck in the relegation zone with 13 points from 16 matches.

A win in today’s match, would be a big boost in their survival hopes.

Creck coach Ernest Mtawali said there was renewed hope in camp after the win over Moyale.

“We know it will not be an easy match but we want to keep our momentum. The boys are in a good mood and are determined to get the result,” Mtawali said.

In another match today, Civil Service United will host Goshen City Dedza Dynamos at Civo Stadium.

“It is a very important match for us, playing at home we need to do everything possible to get the points.
