Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have disclosed that they will not contest Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Players Status Committee’s decision on striker Promise Kamwendo.
The association’s Player Status Committee nullified the transfer of the striker to the Lali Lubani outfit, saying the club flouted player transfer procedures.
Wanderers were also fined K4 million for signing a contract with a player contracted to another club.
In an interview Wednesday, Wanderers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Panganeni Ndovi said after thorough consultations, the club accepted Fam’s ruling.
“We will not contest the decision by Fam. We will comply. Promise is a very good player and we will look at the possibilities of bringing him back at the end of the season,” Ndovi said.
The Player Status Committee also ordered Kamwendo to refund the K6 million signing-on fee which he got from Wanderers after signing a three-year deal.
On top of that, he was ordered to return to his parent club, Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos.
This means the striker has to wait until January next year to move to a club of his choice as the transfer window is closed.
The committee also fined Dedza K3 million.
In addition, the committee said both Wanderers and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets failed to finalise his transfer.
Dedza CEO Flera Chimango Kulemelo also said the club would not pursue the matter further.
“After consultations, we agreed to accept the ruling and we will not appeal,” he said.
Bullets acting CEO Albert Chigoga also accepted the verdict despite saying there were some grey areas.
Meanwhile, Fam Club Licencing and Compliance Manager Casper Jangale has said he is yet to get communication from all parties to the matter.
“If the parties do not appeal within the stipulated time, it means they are satisfied with the verdict,” Jangale said.
All the clubs were given 72 hours to appeal the ruling.
