National Bank of Malawi plc jointly with Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Friday announced that they have adopted Jetu’s ‘pangolin’ as theme song for the country’s first ever Women Premiership League.
NBM Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager Akossa Hiwa said they have brought Jetu to the game of women’s football to bring entertainment during matches.
Hiwa said women were ‘Pangolins’—a popularised term to refer to a rare and protected species— and that ‘Pangolin’ song has been re-mastered to be the theme of the women’s premiership.
“Ona Pango league is here and at NBM, we are grateful to be part of this moment. We believe that women’s football will grow; so let the battle begin,” she said.
Fam Competitions Director Gomegzani Zakazaka, speaking yesterday at the bank’s headquarters in Blantyre, said the move was aimed at spicing up the competition which kicks off today at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe Township, Blantyre with a women’s Blantyre derby between Kukoma Ntopwa and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women.

As part of the agreement, Jetu is today expected to perform during the launch of the competition.
During the event, NBM and Fam also unveiled kits which teams will use during the competition.
The NBM Women’s Premiership will run from July to February 2026.
