Management of Silver Strikers Ladies has shown faith in the technical panel by offering head coach Andrew Chikhosi and his backroom staff two-year contracts.
This comes a few weeks after the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) completed the acquisition of the team, previously known as DD Sunshine.
Andrew’s brother Shadreck Chikhosi has been maintained as assistant coach whereas Yasin Zidana is the goalkeepers’ trainer.
In an interview Sunday, Silver Board Member Willard Chakanika, who is also the spokesperson, confirmed the development.
“We do not change the winning team. We have faith in the technical panel. We believe they will continue to work extra hard,” Chakanika said.
He said the technical panel has been given freedom to beef up the squad.
“We want them to assemble the best players so that we continue to dominate in domestic football. We will ensure that they get all the players they want this year,’’ Chakanika said.
Andrew is considered as one of the best women’s football coaches in domestic football.
The former Silver Strikers, Civil Service United and FCB Nyasa Bullets player has been Malawi Women’s National Football Team assistant coach for close to five years.
However, Andrew was not available for his comment while Shadreck asked for more time before commenting on the matter.
Silver Ladies are expected to welcome back midfielder Madyina Ngulube, defender Chimwemwe Madise, midfielder Wezzie Mvula and goalkeeper Ruth Mhango after they returned home following the expiry of their respective deals with foreign clubs. Ngulube and Madise starred for Elite Ladies whereas Mhango was at Zisd in Zambia. Mvula was in Tanzania.
During the 2022 Fam Women’s National Championship, DD Sunshine finished fourth following a 5-3 loss on post-match penalties.
