Award-winning rapper Suffix, who has collaborated with Mlaka Maliro and Faith Mussa in new songs, left the country on Sunday for Germany, where he is set to perform at one of the festivals.
Suffix, real name Aubrey Ghambi, said yesterday he was looking forward to flying Malawi’s flag in Germany and that he was happy to get such an opportunity.
“There is an organisation called Viva Con Agua from Germany working hand in hand with GIZ. They advocate access to clean water and raise awareness through art and sports. They are the ones that have made it possible for me to travel to Germany,” he said.
Suffix further said that Viva Con Agua has an annual event in Hamburg, Germany, called Millentorgallery plus workshops just to celebrate, raise funds and strategise.
“I did a theme song for them from Malawi with KBG and that is when they decided to reach out to me if I could be their influencer consultant through Nyali Muzik and Ketase (marketing company from Malawi working with Nyali Muzik),” Suffix said.
He indicated that he would be headlining their event with Octopizzo, former big brother and Hennessy ambassador from Kenya, as well as Zix from Uganda.
“It is all good when you get such opportunities because you get to perform in a different environment to a different audience,” the ‘Ghetto Ndi Nyatwa’ creator said.
The artist was one of the biggest winners during the fourth edition of the Maso Awards bagging Best Gospel Act and Song last year.
Meanwhile, legendary musician Soldier Lucius Banda, who performed in United Kingdom last Saturday alongside Wendy Harawa, will perform in Nottingham on Sunday as part of Independence Day family celebrations.
Other artists, who are currently outside flying the country’s flag, include Madalitso Band, the duo of Yosefe Kalekeni and Yobu Maligwa, which is on a world tour and is currently in Europe, Patience Namadingo, who is in United States of America and Alleluya Band, which is in Italy.
