Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) has asked for the speedy submission of a technical report to establish factors that led to the Malawi National Netball Team’s disappointing performance at the Africa Netball Cup 2025.
The Queens finished fourth behind champions South Africa, second-placed Uganda and third-placed Zimbabwe.
Nam General Secretary (GS) Yamikani Khungwa-Kauma said they were waiting for a technical report which was due on Tuesday.
“Before we blame anyone, we need to analyse the technical report to establish what went wrong. We need to understand [what happened] from a technical point of view before we make our stand clear,” she said.
The Nam GS said the technical panel would guide the association on steps which they need to take before next year’s two major events.

The events include Commonwealth Games and World Cup qualifiers.
“We cannot go into the competitions blindly. This is why we are waiting for the technical report to make in-formed decisions,” she said.
However, Khungwa-Kauma said they were excited with how youthful players fitted into the senior side.
Although she did not mention names, her remarks were in direct reference to the likes of goal attacker Florence Jeke, goal shooter Stella Matelezi, centre Melia Soko and wing defender Aisha Gama.

On her part, Queens coach Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa said she was on holiday and would submit the report later.
“Normally, I submit my reports two days after the tournament but I am on leave now. I want to refresh myself. I will surely submit the report,” she said.
The Queens risk dropping further on the rankings following the poor showing at home.
In a third-place match, the Queens lost to Zimbabwe 48- 44.
During the tournament, the Queens defeated Botswana 46- 42 in the opening match before losing 58-38 to South Africa’s Spar Proteas.
The Queens bounced back, trouncing Tanzania 55-34 before losing to Uganda 46-33.
