Fourteen contestants are set to shrug it off in the Miss Heritage Malawi 2023 grand finale slated for Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre on Saturday.
The grand finale was initially set for July 1 2023 but, due to other challenges beyond their control, organisers shifted it to this Saturday.
The 14 finalists are Rita Mwase, Leticia Bwanausi, Thandiwe Wandale, Rebecca Kazingatchire, Ettah Chirwa, Yvonne Chanache, Victoria Michongwe, Daisy Shukran Maundala, Blessy Banda, Catherine Chimphanda, Emily Ngagwe, Mwai Khupe and Pachalo Zimba.
Chief Executive Officer and National Director of Miss Heritage Malawi, Madalo Mkuwu, said Wednesday that they were geared for the grand finale, which is set to be spiced up by performances from, among others, Lulu and Goma Nyondo.
Mkuwu said for the past two years, they have been sending the country’s representatives to the Miss Heritage Global but the selection was being done through social media.

“This year, we are happy to be hosting the actual pageant and not pick the representative through a voting platform,” Mkuwu said.
She maintained that they were serious in their affairs and that they were now fit to host the pageant to select the winner, who will represent the country at the Miss Heritage Global in South Africa from September 13 to 24 2023.
“We received 75 applications and we narrowed this to 35 and then 16. But due to other challenges, two have pulled out so, we have 14 during the finale.
The other special thing about this event is that we are focusing on mental health because this is something that has been neglected,” Mkuwu said.

She hailed Amaryllis Hotel for partnering them ahead of the grand finale.
“Amaryllis Hotel is a friend of the arts. They have been doing this to many in the creative sector. Sponsoring an event is a huge responsibility and, so, we are thankful for this,” Mkuwu said.
