Singer, songwriter and poet Mashallo Samilo is today releasing a song titled ‘Nyimbo Ngwa Mayi’ under Putumayo World Music.
The artist said yesterday he was excited to have his song dropped under the label which he described as big in the world and that it promotes authentic music.
“’Nyimbo Ngwa Mayi’ which means ‘Mother’s Song’ in Chichewa, is my heartfelt tribute to maternal love, sacrifice and the profound role mothers play in sustaining life. I composed the song in honour of mothers looking at Mothers’ Day,” he said.
Samillo debuted with Clueless in 2012 before releasing other projects such as No Nah Trepidation and Welcome to Malawi.
He also has a poetry anthology The Rising Voices which he co-authored with veteran poet Benedicto Wokomaatani Malunga.
