TNM Super League gate revenue has dropped significantly in the second round for three consecutive seasons, Times Sport has learnt.
This is according to figures provided by the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) on Wednesday, four days after the conclusion of the 2025 TNM Super League season.
Sulom announced that the 2025 TNM Super League generated K1.74billion in gate revenue, representing a 62.68 percent increase compared with the 2024 season, which grossed K1.07 billion.
However, the figures show a decrease in gate revenue in the second round, after the first round grossed K1.06 billion. This means the second round generated slightly over K700 million.
The same trend occurred last season, as the first round generated K689 million while the second round grossed K384 million.

In 2023, the league grossed million in 2022. Some sports analysts have called for a serious review of the downward trend in second-round gate revenue over the past three years. K916 million, up from K587
Sulom Treasurer Allie Mwachande admitted that second-round gate revenue for the past three seasons had not been satisfactory.
“It is not easy in the second round as some matches are played midweek. Patronage for midweek games is low and we cannot play at night due to limited facilities,” he said.
Meanwhile, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets were the top earners in the recently concluded season, having pocketed K198 million.

This represents a substantial increase, as Bullets collected K95.5 million in 2024 and K89.2 million in 2023.
Bullets Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga attributed the increase to strong performance in the first round.
“Our supporters had high expectations. The start to the season was top notch,” Chigoga said.
Newly crowned TNM Super League champions Mighty Wanderers were second, having earned K173 million. Wanderers received K83.7 million in 2024 and K65.6 million in 2023.
In an interview yesterday, Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi expressed satisfaction with the revenue but said it could have been higher.
“There is potential to generate more resources from the matches. As stakeholders we can do better to maximise gate revenue,” Ndovi said.
Former Super League champions Silver Strikers earned K68 million, up from K56 million in 2024, while Chitipa United received K37 million.
Sports analyst Parry Chinyama said second-round gate revenue was a concern.
“Stakeholders need to find a solution to improve gate revenue in the second round. It shows there is a big problem,” he said.
A total of K387 million went to match-day expenses while ground levies amounted to K340 million. Sulom received K134 million, while the Malawi National Council of Sports and Football Association of Malawi received K67 million each.
