Reunion Insurance Thursday donated K5 million to the Malawi University of Science and Technology (Must) in support of the university’s golf fundraising event to be hosted in Blantyre on Saturday.
The university is targeting to raise K250 million to meet immediate needs of 50 students who are on the verge of dropping out of school due to financial constraints.
Reunion Insurance Technical Manager responsible for Claims and Business Development Hastings Kapesa said the support aligns with the insurance company’s commitment to contributing towards national development.
“We need to do everything possible to keep the students in school. Educating them now means securing a safer future for the country as they are the people who will contribute to national economic development,” Kapesa said.

Must Registrar Alfred Chinombo hailed the insurance company for the support which, he said, will make a difference in the university’s drive of educating its students.
“Any intervention aimed at supporting the students is a big initiative. The money is substantial, and will be part of the resources we intend to generate to help in meeting the immediate needs of the needy students,” Chinombo said.
