By Jonas Nyasulu:

Lilongwe-based actor Kelvin Ngoma, who starred in Chiwetel Ejiofor’s film titled The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, has made it to the top 10 of season two of African Monologue Challenge (AMC) in Uganda.

AMC is a transformative initiative that celebrates African creativity, amplifies diverse voices and fosters unity across the continent and its diaspora.

The Project was initiated by MK Casting which is Ghana’s premier Casting Agency in partnership with the African Chamber of Content Producers.

The first season of the competition took place in 2022 attracting over 500 applicants with season two launching in June 2023 pulling together 200 entries.

Ngoma said he was excited to have made it in the top 10.

“I am glad that I have not been evicted and managed to cruise through to the top 10. I will be going to Uganda for the finals soon. I would really love my fellow Malawians to support and vote for me so that I can have a chance to win the grand prize and the top actor Africa award,” he said.

Chief Executive Officer of MK Casting, Mawuko Kuadzi said the final event, including the Pan African House in Uganda will be launched on May 26, 2024 and that the winner will be crowned in June 2024.

“The winner will receive accolades and recognition, a substantial cash reward, certificate and plague to commemorate their achievement,” Kuadzi said.

He said AMC 2024 will be hosted in Kampala, Uganda, with participants staying in a Pan African themed house.

“The house will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for performances, challenges, coaching sessions, and live streaming of activities.

“A team of experienced professionals will manage the event, including production, logistics, and marketing. The main strategic partner for AMC 2024 is the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC),” he said.

He said the vision of AMC s to become the premier platform for discovering and nurturing African acting talent, fostering a united and collaborative creative community across the continent and its diaspora, and contributing to a more positive and inclusive global image of Africa.
