The body of Major Wallace Aidini was laid to rest at Chiwalo Village in Traditional Authority Nankumba in Mangochi Friday.
Aidini, an aeroplane engineer, was among the nine that died in a military plane crash on Monday in Chikangawa Forest in Mzimba.
Family representative, Omega Mlelemba, said Aidini’s death is difficult to grapple with.
“But we believe that in every situation, God must be glorified because he allow things to happen for a purpose.
“When we heard that our brother was among the passengers in the missing plane, we had hope that he would be found alive. And when we heard that he was among the victims who had died, we didn’t believe it until today when we are seeing his casket,” said Mlelemba.

He said people in the village are looking up to the investigations which the government says will conduct on the crash for them to find answers to some of the questions they have.
Representing President Lazarus Chakwera, Minister of Trade Sosten Gwengwe described Aidini as a hero who had died while serving his country.
“This is a sad moment to Malawians, especially to the people of Chiwalo Village for losing one of your sons in that tragic accident. President Lazarus Chakwera is devastated with this death and he is conveying a message of condolence,” he said.
