Renowned female pugilist Agnes Mtimaukanena has said she hopes Kukoma Ntopwa Football Club will improve in terms of fitness and endurance after the side hired her as physical fitness trainer.
“I like the role and it is my desire that the team should reap from the rewards of hiring me as physical fitness trainer. I am happy with how the players are responding and the team’s management is also giving me enough support,” Mtimaukanena, who has worked as a gym instructor, said.
The former World Boxing Forum welterweight champion said her role will not prevent her from taking part in title or non-title fights.
“The good thing is that I take part in the drills to stay fit. I also work out on my own with my coaches to improve my game [boxing],” she said.

Ntopwa Technical Director and owner Isaac ‘Jomo’ Osman hailed Mtimaukanena’s expertise.

“We have already started benefiting from her drills because we are able to recover balls quickly and our concentration levels keep on improving,” Osman said.
Ntopwa defied the odds to qualify for the Caf Champions League qualifiers, silencing well supported teams such as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women, formerly Blantyre Zero, and Silver Ladies, formerly DD Sunshine.
Ntopwa qualified for the tournament after winning the 2022 Fam National Women’s Championship following a 5-3 victory over Ascent Academy at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.
