Hockey Association of Malawi (Ham) has disclosed that the country is set to host the Africa Cup for Club Champions (ACCC) at the Hockey Stadium, near Kamuzu Stadium, in Blantyre.
The 34th men’s and 25th women’s edition of the ACCC will run from Saturday to November 26.

Ham General Secretary Geoffrey Biya said they had planned carefully to ensure the success of the tournament.
Biya said with nearly 85 percent of preparations done, the local organising committee has left no stone unturned to guarantee the success of the landmark event.
“Our primary focus is on delivering thrilling matches and fostering a sense of sporting fellowship that will be cherished by both players and fans alike,” Biya said.

However, Biya acknowledged the financial challenges posed by the recent devaluation of the Kwacha against the dollar, revealing a deficit of almost K40 million in the projected budget.
He appealed to both corporate entities and individuals to rally behind the cause, urging them to contribute and bridge the financial gap.
“This is a call to action for all stakeholders to join hands in making this tournament a resounding success,” Biya said.
The ACCC 2023, hailed as the biggest club hockey tournament in Africa, will feature formidable teams from six countries: Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Malawi, Ghana and Uganda.

Ghana will be represented by the Ghana Revenue Authority team.
