Air Cargo Malawi on Thursday launched pharmaceutical air service aimed at facilitating the efficient importation of pharmaceutical goods.
Air Cargo Malawi Chairman Felix Tandwe said they have partnered Emirates Airlines to deliver medicines to Malawi from Europe and the United Arab Emirates.
He added the initiative holds immense potential to positively impact on Malawi’s socio economic development by contributing to improvements in supply, distribution and safety of pharmaceuticals.
He further said the newly launched pharmaceutical service will ensure the seamless transportation of life changing drugs and sensitive pharmaceutical products by integrating speed, safety and reliability.
“Our pharmaceuticals freight service will not only enhance the availability of essential medicines but also support the economic growth of our country. We are proud to be part of this journey”, he said.
Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority Director General Mphatso Kawaye said the coming in of Air Cargo Malawi into pharmaceutical logistics is a commitment to support the healthcare sector in ensuring access to quality assured medicines.
He said the participation of Air Cargo in the shipment and delivery of quality pharmaceutical products would boost the health sector.
Air Cargo Malawi collaborates with technical and logistics partners in government and private sector to maintain a reliable service.
