The Ministry of Mining has said it has concluded drafting the Artisanal and Small-scale Mining (ASM) Policy, which seeks to formalise activities in the sub-sector.
The policy is aimed at boosting production and export volumes, particularly for gemstones and gold, by simplifying the permitting process for ASM cooperatives, providing technical assistance, and promoting safer and more environmentally sound practices.
