Blantyre-based youthful artist Clement Kam’mwamba, who is also into photography, left the country on Sunday to participate at the sixth Hola Utopia Street Art Festival in Hannover, Germany.
The graffiti festival started on Monday and runs up to September 5 2025. Artists from around the world will gather to paint walls that reflect the theme and contribute to building more connected urban communities. Kam’mwamba is participating at the festival as part of the on-going twin city relationship between Blantyre and Hannover.
Founder and lead organiser Jascha Muller, who is also the founder of Hip-hop Kulture said recently that Hola Utopia Festival is organised in close cooperation with the Cultural Department of the City of Hannover.
Muller said they were pleased to have Kam’mwamba participate in the festival saying his unique visual storytelling and community-oriented practice are perfectly aligned with the spirit and mission of Hola Utopia festival.
Kam’mwamba said upon arrival in Germany that he was excited to be representing Malawi at the festival.

“This is a big festival and I am geared to showcase my talent and what Malawi is all about. I am also looking forward to meeting with other artists,” he said.
Actor and playwright Jack Musumba from Arts Sustainability Lab, who has been handling all the management responsibilities for the engagement said when he visited Hannover, Germany with his colleague Robert Magasa, they had a series of meetings with various creatives that have now started opening up opportunities.
“Clément’s participation follows our recent cultural exchange visit to Germany, which created pathways for collaboration and opportunities for Malawian artists to showcase their talent on the global stage,” Musumba said.
Magasa said Clement’s involvement not only reflects his individual artistry but also highlights the growing recognition of Malawian creativity in the international platforms.
