FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Coach Kalisto Pasuwa has urged his charges to guard against complacency as they host Dragon FC from Equatorial Guinea in the second leg of Caf Champions League preliminary round at Bingu National Stadium this coming Saturday.
The People’s Team has an advantage and a good chance of progressing to the next round after winning the first leg 2-0 away at Estadio de Malabo in Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
However, Pasuwa said the battle is not over yet.
“It is not a game where we can relax that we are through to the next round. We still need to do more for us to sail through to the next round,’’ the Zimbabwean said.
Bullets were in a similar situation during the 2021 edition after winning the first leg against DStv Premiership side Amazulu but lost 3-1 at home as they crashed out of the tournament.
Under the Zimbabwean, Bullets have struggled to transform their domestic dominance to the international stage and have failed to go past the first round since he took over in 2018.
Pasuwa said despite beating them at their own backyard, Dragon were a good team.
“They are a very attack-minded team. In the first half, they were playing the same system we were playing. They have got big bodies but most of our guys were quicker than them,’’ he said.
Maxwell Gasten Phodo scored a first-half brace.
The winner between Bullets and Dragon will face TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) next month.
Sports analyst Parry Chinyama also warned Bullets against complacency.
’’Bullets should not be carried away; rather, they should show no mercy to Dragon on Sunday. They should create an atmosphere that will be hostile and intimidating to visitors,’’ Chinyama said.
The second preliminary round matches are scheduled for September 15 and October 1.
Meanwhile, Bullets are expected to arrive in the country today through Chileka International Airport. The team will then proceed to Lilongwe tomorrow for camping ahead of the second leg.
