Malawi’s women’s football star Tabitha Chawinga was on target as her club Paris Saint Germain bowed out of the Uefa Women’s Champions League following a 5-3 loss to Olympique Lyonnais on aggregate.
PSG lost 2-1 at home Sunday, just two weeks after they suffered a 3-2 defeat away.
Tabitha equalised for PSG in the 41st minute after Bacha gave Lyon the lead inside three minutes.
Durmonay sealed the winner for Lyon with nine minutes to full time.
It was bittersweet for Tabitha, having failed to inspire PSG to qualify for the final of Uefa Women’s Champions League.

This means the Malawian has scored six goals in her debut season in the Uefa Women’s Champions League.
Tabitha was disappointed with the defeat.
“It is sad that we are out of the competition. We gave everything but it was not the result we wanted,” Tabitha said.
Tabitha, who has been nominated for the 2023 Player of the Season after her impressive performance in France, is the leading goal scorers’ list with 18 goals.

She has been in form for PSG in all competitions this season as she is also top on the assist chart with 11 assists.
Tabitha is also the joint top goal scorer in the Coupe de French, having scored four goals.
