Malawi Women’s National Football Team strikers Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga scored a hat-trick each as Wuhan Jiangda thrashed Guangdong Meizhou 8-1 in the Chinese Women’s Super League Monday.
Temwa has taken her goal tally to 16 in the league as she is the leading goal scorer with seven goals, above Zambian Barbara Banda.
For Tabitha, it was her fourth goal of the season after returning from loan at Inter Milan Women in Italy, where she scored 23 goals in 21 matches.
“Two hat-tricks in one picture. I and Temwa TC 6 scored three goals each [in] a nine-goal thriller,” Tabitha wrote on her Facebook page after the match.
Temwa is just one goal away from equalling Tabitha’s record of 2018.

However, the 24-year-old striker said she was focusing on helping the team to defend the league.
“It is a dream for every striker to win the golden boot award,” Temwa said.
She has already won two golden boot awards this season, having scored 15 goals in the Chinese Football Association Cup and six in the Chinese National Cup.
Wuhan maintained their unbeaten run in the league.
