The tombstone of legendary musician Wyndham Chechamba, will be unveiled on March 30 2024, his son Ermine said Thursday.
Chechamba, who mentored and trained lots of artists in the country died on August 27 2021.
“We want people to join us during the tombstone unveiling as we will also be remembering him,” he said.
Chechamba, who contributed immensely to the development of music in the country and art in general, was laid to rest at his home village of Chechamba in the Area of Traditional Authority Bvumbwe in Thyolo District.
Chechamba, who was passionate about jazz, mentored and trained artists in the country through different platforms including his Chechamba School.
He is also the artist who pioneered traditional music with Kudya Resident Band in 1974.
He was born on May 5 1934 and grew up partly in Zimbabwe and Malawi.
