Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) has finally released funding to Football Association of Malawi (Fam) and Netball Association of Malawi (Nam).
The government has recently been under heavy criticism for failing to fund activities for the associations.
However, officials from council and Fam declined to disclose the amounts.
MNCS Public Relations and Communications Officer Edgar Ntulumbwa confirmed releasing support to both Fam and Nam.
“The funds have been released for several activities and it is up to Fam and Nam to disclose how much they have been giving,” he said.
Fam General Secretary Alfred Gunda was tight-lipped to mention the figure.
“Yes funds were released for a cross section of activities that we have undertaken in the year including support towards the Under-20,” Gunda said.
However, Nam General Secretary Yamikani Khunga- Kauma revealed that the association had received K50 million senior national netball team activities.
“We got the local camping funds from council. We will communicate on camping dates soon,” she said.
