Creck Sporting Club has faulted the Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Competitions Committee ruling on the sanctions imposed on the club and its three players.
This follows the Fam Competitions Committee handing bans and red cards to Creck’s three players on Tuesday, namely defenders Hadji Wali (four matches), Miracle Gabeya (three matches) and striker George Chaomba (two matches), for misconduct during the Airtel Top 8 match against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Nankhaka Stadium last month.
The club has also been fined K1 million for failing to control the actions of its players.
In reaction to the development, Creck Chairperson Muhamad Selemani said the club was handed two verdicts, which are technically and legally wrong.
“The first verdict did not specify the ban and this implied it would only apply in the Airtel Top 8. The second verdict, which is being challenged, has indicated that the ban will apply across all competitions,” Selemani said.

He added that Fam’s decision was affecting the material substance of the matter.
“It is not addressing clerical errors in the verdict. The understanding is that the first verdict was based on our submission and the hearing which was conducted.
“Our position is that we will honour the first verdict unless there is a proper amendment in accordance with the law,” Selemani said.
In its ruling released on Tuesday, Fam indicated that the actions of the three players breached articles 23.3 and 23.4 of the 2025 Airtel Top 8 Rules and Regulations, as well as article 14.1 of the Fifa Disciplinary Code.

Wali was handed a four-match ban and a red card for stepping on the hand and leg of Maxwell Gasten Phodo, while Gabeya is suspended for three matches for stepping on Babatunde Adepoju’s hand.
Similarly, Chaomba has been suspended for two matches for elbowing left back Henry Chiwaya. Creck lost the match 1-0, courtesy of Phodo’s goal.
