A 41-year-old security guard, Clement Lihuta, has died after allegedly being attacked by German Shepherd dogs in Old Naisi, Zomba, on Tuesday night.
Zomba Police Station deputy spokesperson Andrew Mwale said the deceased, who was employed by Chalo Security Services, was attacked after he was assigned to guard the residence of a client [Mr John Kauta], who owns German Shepherd dogs.

security guard discovered Lihuta’s body
“Reports indicate that at around 20:15 hours, owner of the dogs [Kauta] heard the guard screaming from outside. When he inquired, Lihuta reportedly said that dogs were attacking him. He was advised to take shelter in the guard room,” Mwale said.
Mwale further said the owner of the house attempted to contact the security company to arrange for a replacement, suspecting that the guard might have been intoxicated, but his efforts were unsuccessful.

“At around 22:00 hours, the screams continued, prompting another attempt to reach the company supervisor, with the calls also going unanswered. The following morning, another security guard arrived for duty and discovered Lihuta’s body lying on the lawn in a pool of blood. Two German Shepherd dogs, who appeared aggressive, were found nearby,” Mwale said.
He said Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Officers visited the scene, before taking Lihuta to Zomba Central Hospital, where death was confirmed as being due to multiple dog bite injuries, severe haemorrhage, carotid and bronchial arteries.
Mwale has since said investigations into the incident are underway.
Lihuta came from Mc- Moles Village, Traditional Authority Mwambo, in Zomba District.
