Renowned singer and guitarist Erik Paliani said Tuesday that he wants to breathe more life into the creative industry in the country apart from the performances he has been holding, hence bringing forth what he dubs The Ultimate Guitar Workshop.
Paliani, who has starred with big name artists such as jazz maestro Hugh Masekela, said having been on the ground working with artists at Kayesa Creative Centre in Mchinji, it was now time to get Kayesa to town.
The Ultimate Guitar Workshop mission starts on Saturday at Flood Church in Lilongwe where there will be two sessions – general training and introduction to jazz.
“Music has theory and practical and, so, these sessions are all about looking at music deeper theoretically but doing it the opposite way,” the ‘Chitukutuku’ star said.
An inspiration to many artists in the country, Paliani said during the workshop, he will give an introduction to a whole new journey.

“I have made two sessions deliberately because I will be looking at things like jazz and instruments, what guitars can do and so many other tenets. This is a professional chat with amateurs and those who would want to be part of music, jazz and guitars,” he said.
Paliani said the sessions will also go as far as Blantyre and Mzuzu.
“This is not just a one-off thing; we need to level things on the ground as regards jazz and guitar playing. We hope to get more students and at the same time build connections and earn support,” he said.
