FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have paid K6 million meant for repairing Silver Strikers’ bus, which was smashed after the team’s 0-1 loss at Kamuzu Stadium on June 2 this year.
Bullets made a commitment to repair the bus after the club’s management, led by chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda, met the board of Silver in Lilongwe a fortnight ago.

In an interview Wednesday, Bullets Chief Administration Officer Albert Chigoga said the gesture was aimed at demonstrating sportsmanship.

“It is true that we have paid Silver to fix their bus. I would like to commend them for allowing us to meet and map the way forward after the violence,” Chigoga said.

The recent meeting between the two clubs was aimed at reaching an agreement and coming up with a mechanism for avoiding a similar incident in future.
On his part, Silver Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba thanked Bullets for fulfilling the promise.
“This is a commendable gesture and great show of sportsmanship,” Chimimba said.
Some Bullets fans went on rampage immediately after Silver’s last gasp-winner courtesy of Chinsisi Maonga.

The fans smashed Silver’s team bus and also deflated tyres for both Bullets and Silver team buses, a development that delayed the teams’ departures.
“Bullets, an affiliate of Sulom, being a home team playing against Silver Strikers, failed to control their supporters who pelted the field of play with stones, bottles in the 90th minutes, forcing the match to end prematurely,” the statement reads.
Meanwhile, Super league of Malawi (Sulom) is yet to release its verdict on the matter.
However, the league governing body charged Bullets with offences for their failure to control actions of their supporters and bringing the game of football into disrepute.
In a statement dated June 5 2024, Bullets were charged for failing to control actions of their supporters and officials, in line with Article 26.2.31 and 26.2.33 of Sulom rules and regulations.
The two teams are separated by 11 points in the title race, with Silver on top with 25 points whereas Bullets are fifth with 14 points from nine matches.
