It has been six years since Kamuzu Barracks last beat FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in a competitive match.
But the KB soldiers step onto the artificial turf of Kamuzu Stadium with renewed hope as the two sides lock horns in the 2025 FDH Bank Cup quarterfinals this afternoon.
The odds are stacked against KB after they have played second fiddle to Bullets since 2019.
KB last beat Bullets 1-0 in the TNM Super League at Civo Stadium.
Their recent meeting in a cup match was last year in the semifinals of the Airtel Top 8 Cup but Bullets triumphed 2-0 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

KB also lost the most recent TNM Super League fixture 4-0 to Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium.
But there is no room for error in this afternoon’s fixture as at stake is a place in the FDH Bank Cup semifinals.
Bullets go into the match in high spirits after a 2-1 comeback from behind victory over Silver Strikers in the league before the Fifa international break.
But Bullets assistant coach Gilbert Chirwa has warned his charges not to underestimate the soldiers.

“We are not looking at history. This is a cup game, we just take it as it comes. We have advised the boys not to be complacent,” Chirwa said.
Bullets have received a big boost as winger Chikumbutso Salima is available for the clash. But defender Andrew Juvinala is not yet ready for the clash having recovered from the injury.
KB coach Nicholas Mhango said his main goal is to progress to the semifinals.
“It will be a 50-50 affair as both teams want to win the match. We have done our homework well so we will give them a good fight,” Mhango said.
KB will be without Sam Gunda and Sam Chibvunde due to injury.
The winner between Bullets and KB will face either Mighty Wanderers or Creck Sporting Club in the semifinals.
Wanderers and Creck will meet tomorrow at Champion Stadium, in Mponela, Dowa District.
Silver Strikers and Civil Service United will meet each other in the semifinals.
Silver defeated champions Blue Eagles 3-0 in the quarterfinals whereas Civil knocked out Mchinji Villa 2-1.
