TNM Super League defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets left it late to beat Mighty WakaWaka Tigers 1-0 at Kamuzu Stadium Thursday to return to the summit.
All Bullets needed to reclaim the lead was a Yamikani Fodya goal from the spot after Tigers defender Frank Chikufenji handled in the box.
It was a tight match which saw Tigers dictating proceedings in the entire first half.
KauKau surely have themselves to blame for failing to collect maximum points against rusty Bullets, who rested regulars Precious Sambani, Clyde Sineji and Richard Chimbamba.

This gave a chance to Eric Kaonga, Collins Okumu and Rabson Chiyenda to make the starting line-up.

However, the three failed to live up to expectations as they failed to match Tigers’ fast pace, with former Bullets star Ben Manyozo controlling the midfield.
Tigers’ Frank Chikufenji could have put his team ahead on two occasions but he missed two clear-cut chances in the first half after being fed by Precious Chiudza.
Bullets came back into the match in the second half with waves of attack but Tigers stood firm until Fodya scored from the spot.

Bullets Coach Kalisto Pasuwa hailed his charges for a job well done.

“We are playing with tired legs. Tigers had a very good run in the first half but we managed to contain them. It is good to keep winning,” Pasuwa said.
His counterpart Christopher Nyambose conceded defeat and hailed Bullets’ substitutes for changing the complexion of the match.
“We contained Bullets and pinned them down in the first half until the dying minutes when my boys got tired and gave away balls. The substitutions that Bullets made changed matters in their favour. I congratulate them for the win,” Nyambose said.
The win took Bullets level with Mighty Mukuru Wanderers on 40 points but the People’s Team is leading courtesy of a better goal difference.
