FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have paid K25 million to have their bus back after it was impounded by High Court sheriffs in Blantyre on Wednesday.
The amount is compensation for Bullets’ former coach Franco Ndawa who sued the club for breach of contract following his sacking on August 22 2016 after losing to Mafco in a Carlsberg Cup quarterfinal.
Ndawa took the matter to court and won the case, with Bullets being ordered to pay K25 million as compensation.

Speaking during a press briefing in Blantyre Thursday, Bullets Chief Administrative Officer, Albert Chigoga, said the club’s lawyers were processing the necessary paperwork to retrieve the bus.

“Settlement of the debt demonstrates our commitment to resolve this matter promptly and ensure that our operations continue to run smoothly. We are one of Malawi’s most successful football clubs and the recent financial setback and subsequent resolution highlight the challenges that even top clubs can face and the importance of effective management in navigating such issues,” Chigoga said.
High Court Registrar Kondwani Banda said he needed to get updates on the matter.
“I am currently in Lilongwe right now and I need to find out. So let me come back to you,” Banda said.
Lawyer representing Ndawa, Emmanuel Tchapo of Wilkinson Attorneys and Law Consultant, said he has not yet received the report as the process takes days to complete.

“The money is paid through the accounts office of the court and a notice is sent to the registrar of the court, who then forwards the notice to us,” he said.
Chigoga also said they had met their players and resolved all issues that resulted into a training boycott on Tuesday, without players believed to be sabotaging the team’s progress being fired.
“Such claims are unfounded. Our focus is on unity and performance, and no player has been dismissed on such grounds,” he said. Bullets will be hoping to put their TNM Super League title defence back on track with a win against Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe Saturday.
