Over nine Malawian players who are playing in foreign leagues, from Gabadinho Mhango to Richard Mbulu, were in action over the weekend as they featured in matches.
Gabadinho Mhango started in the Ned Bank Cup Round-of-32 match that saw his South African side, Moroka Swallows, beating Platinum City Rovers 3-1 on penalties after extra-time could not produce a winner.
Still in the Rainbow Nation, Khuda Muyaba impressed on his debut, playing for 73 minutes in a match that saw his side, Richards Bay, handing Polokwane City a 3-2 defeat in the Nedbank Cup Round-of-32.
Muyaba played for 73 minutes.
In Zambia, Chawanangwa Kaonga strutted his stuff for 79 minutes at his club Zanaco.
However, work as they could, Zanaco players could not defeat Napsa, such that the match ended in a nil-nil stalemate.
The only positive from the match could be that Bangwe All Stars former playmaker Robert Saizi featured, for the second time since he joined Zanaco, as a substitute.
He did not disappoint during the 35 minutes that were allocated to him.
Still in the neighbouring country, Chifundo Mphasi could not help his Kabwe Warriors outsmart Prison Leopards, such that a goalless draw was the product of players’ toil.
In Mozambique, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers’ former winger Yamikani Chester continued to impress.
To add an icing on the cake, he netted once but that effort was not enough to save his side Costa do Sol from defeat.
The team lost 1-2 to Ferroviario de Maputo but has a chance to avenge for the loss because this was only the first leg of the Jogibelt League.
Chester is not the only Malawian that went back home sad.
Mbulu, Lloyd Njaliwa and Chikoti Chirwa also featured in Costa do Sol’s loss to Ferroviario de Maputo.
