By Isaac Salima:
The suspension of Blantyre Water Board (BWB) Chief Executive Officer Yeremiah Chihana, just three weeks into his tenure, has raised questions over governance, decision-making and the balance of authority between the board and management.
Chihana was appointed to head the parastatal three weeks ago but has since reportedly made several decisions that have not gone down well with the board.
A letter seen by The Daily Times has ordered Chihana to be suspended pending a disciplinary hearing.
Among other things, the letter signed by BWB Board Chairperson Stanley Chirwa states that the suspension follows a resolution of an extraordinary general meeting.
