Zomba Gymkhana Club will be celebrating a centenary this year after clocking 100 years of existence since 1923.
The club’s chairperson, Shelton Kanyanda, said in an interview that they have organised celebrations to be held on September 29 and 20 2023.
“We have celebrations which will run under the theme ‘The History that Builds Today’. We will have a variety of activities including sports,” Kanyanda said.
On sports, Kanyanda said they will also have golf and squash for golf and squash aficionados.
“Regardless of their expertise level, people can participate in inclusive tournaments that promise excitement,” he said.

He said, having been on the ground for close to 100 years, they would want to continue doing so and that, apart from sports, they will hold live music performances.
Gymkhana Club’s foundation stems from a plea from senior government officials to have a place for recreation.
In the spirit of fostering sportsmanship and social connections, the government granted the use of the Queen Victoria Hall, a structure that now stands as the iconic Club House, heralding the birth of Zomba Gymkhana Club.
