The country’s top human resource persons meet in Mangochi next month to strategise on how they could foster productivity, diversity and change in the modern workplace.
Institute of People Management Malawi (IPMM) President Godwin Ng’oma told Times Business that human resources managers have a critical role to play in helping the government achieve the Malawi 2063 vision goals.
According to Ng’oma, the conference provides an opportunity for professionals to bang heads on how best they could play a part in turning the national dream into reality.
He said during this year’s Labour Day celebrations, where President Lazarus Chakwera challenged IPMM to push for the IPMM bill to be passed.
“This conference gives us an opportunity to strategise on this and also get an update on the position of the bill,” Ng’oma said.

The conference will be held under the theme ‘Human Resource Management: Fostering Productivity, Diversity and Change in a Multi-Generational Technology -Driven Workplace’.
Vice President Saulos Chilima is expected to be the guest of honour during the indaba.
“The theme was chosen as a strategic way to position HR in this global business environment where there is a lot of change happening every day.
“HR has got to stay on top of all these issues to manage the future of work and bring value to the organisation. It is just imperative that this topic be the theme and address the current and future of HR if we are to develop our Mother Malawi.

“Malawi cannot do without HR putting the right people, with the right competence, qualifications at the right place in the right way, at the right time to do the right things to produce the right output and develop Malawi,” Ng’oma said.
