Illovo Sugar Malawi has donated K20 million to Minority Shareholder Association of Listed Companies (Msalico) in support of a youth-focused financial literacy training scheduled for next week in Lilongwe.
The training is expected to draw participants from across the country and will focus on building a foundational understanding of financial management and stock market engagement.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Illovo Sugar Malawi Managing Director Ronald Ngwira underscored the company’s commitment to youth empowerment through education and skills development.
“We are honoured to support Msalico. The association is doing commendable work in bringing together young people and equipping them with vital financial skills. This initiative strongly aligns with Illovo’s values of empowering communities and fostering sustainable development,” he said.
Ngwira added that improving financial literacy among the youth was key to creating a more inclusive economy, where young people were not only consumers but active participants in wealth creation and investment.

Msalico Secretary General Frank Harawa expressed gratitude for the support.
“We are grateful to Illovo for this generous contribution. It is also important to educate people on how to buy shares and understand how the market operates,” Harawa said.
He added that empowering young people with such knowledge would help demystify investing and encourage a culture of long-term financial planning.
