The Institute of Marketing in Malawi (IMM), in collaboration with Vanguard Life Assurance Company Limited, has launched IMM Group Funeral Plan to provide financial security and peace of mind to paidup members. Speaking at the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Blantyre, Vanguard Life Assurance Managing Director Lilian Moyo said the product was introduced to help IMM members’ family members cope with growing financial pressures during times of loss.
“Marketers are the lifeblood of institutions; hence they need to have confidence and security.
“As they are also breadwinners, they need peace of mind, which normally comes when their families are secured and get insurance in the case of any [eventuality],” she said. She added that the IMM Group Funeral Plan was a promise of dignity, offering cash benefits to beneficiaries whether the cause of death is natural, illness or accidental. IMM President George Damson said the initiative demonstrated IMM’s commitment to members not only professionally but also on their personal family matters. He said the initiative was not just about insurance; it was about solidarity, compassion and professional responsibility.
“This means that when an IMM member passes on, the Institute, through this arrangement, will provide funeral cash benefits to assist the bereaved family.
“The good thing with this is that our members are not going to be paying any extra fees to be covered,” he said.

Damson said, through the initiative, IMM was expected to increase the number of its members as it had set the pace for what a modern, member focused professional body should look like.
