Malawi National Netball Team shooter Joyce Mvula has solidified her growing reputation in the United Kingdom (UK)’s Netball Super League after she won the player of the match accolade on Friday.
Mvula was deservedly named player of the match following an unprecedented 100 percent shooting accuracy, scoring 40 baskets when her side Leeds Rhinos beat Saracens Mavericks 59-49 in Sheffield.
Despite Mavericks starting impressively, Leeds, powered by Mvula, were resilient.
“The visitors opened a five-goal lead after the first 15 minutes as they produced turnover after turnover. From there, Leeds Rhinos clicked into gear as Mvula shot at 100 percent while Geva Mentor put pressure on Ine-Marí Venter at the other end to see her side enter the break with a four-goal advantage,” netballsl.com reports.
Mvula was thrilled with the victory, describing the win as crucial for the team.

“We worked hard for this result. It was important to win. The award is due to teamwork,” Mvula said.
Malawi Queens Coach Joanna Kachilika said the accolade was good for the country.
“The award will help her grow in confidence. Our wish is that every player should have game time to be ready and fit for the Queens,” Kachilika said.
