Patron of the newly promoted TNM Super League side Kawinga FC, which has rebranded to Creck Sporting Club, Clifford Kawinga, has said he will invest more resources in the team ahead of their maiden appearance in the top flight league.
Kawinga made the remarks at gala awards held in Lilongwe on Sunday night.
He said by earning promotion to the TNM Super League, the team needs more resources and personnel to withstand the heat.
“We want to come up with the cream of Malawian players. We will do everything possible to assemble a good team. We need to make a lot of changes to the team to match the standards of the Super League,” he said.
According to Kawinga, the team has rebranded to Creck Sporting Club, meaning that Creck Hardware and General Suppliers Limited will be the club’s official sponsors.

However, Kawinga need to apply to Football Association of Malawi (Fam) for a change of name.
At the event, Kawinga also announced that he had purchased a new bus for the team as a token of appreciation for earning Super League promotion.
“We believe that the new bus will ease mobility challenges. It will also motivate the players to do well in the TNM Super League,” he said.
On top of that, he rewarded the players with K250,000 each and K100,000 for each member of the technical panel.

The team’s chairperson, Joe Mwase, said the gesture would motivate the players.
“The patron thought it wise to thank the players to motivate them,” Mwase said.
At the event, outstanding players were also recognised. The team finished as Chipiku Premier Division champions with 51 points from 22 matches, out of which 21 points were awarded to them after other teams failed to turn up for matches.
