G4S security guard Redson Mtsilo has received more than K6 million in cash and assorted gifts from over 400 Malawians in recognition of his 23 years of dedicated service and kindness at Game Complex in Lilongwe City.
He was also gifted two plots by Prosper Properties Limited, a brand-new motorcycle, a laptop and money towards university fees for his son.
Mtsilo, who turned 49 on Thursday, received these gifts during birthday celebrations organised by Tabwera Appreciation Initiative, which was launched by photographer and videographer Lameck Luhanga of Moving Minds Multimedia.
“What prompted the initiative was seeing people appreciate Mtsilo for his kindness and the service he provides and we thought it wise to celebrate someone while they are alive,” he said.

Over the years, Mtsilo has earned praise from people at Game Complex for going beyond his duties—including assisting sick people and protecting vehicles whose owners had accidentally left them unlocked—without demanding payment.
Musician Faith Mussa was among several people who attended the handover ceremony and commended Mtsilo for his good character and willingness to help others.
Alongside the assorted gifts and shopping vouchers, pencil artist Tingo Art presented Mtsilo with a hand-drawn portrait in recognition of his service.
G4S Secure Solutions Human Resources Director Sandie Kumwenda said the recognition demonstrated the importance of investing in employees who consistently provide quality service.

In his remarks, Mtsilo thanked those who recognised his work and said discipline and treating everyone equally were important qualities in serving others.
“It is important to be disciplined and see everyone the same and serve everyone equally,” he said.
