Minister of Information and Digitalisation Moses Kunkuyu has asked Football Association of Malawi (Fam) affiliates to put the interest of football lovers first ahead of the body’s polls slated for this Saturday in Mzuzu City.
The minister made the remarks during the launch of the manifesto for Fam presidential aspirant Fleetwood Haiya in Lilongwe on Saturday night.
“I have learnt that this game is played by the rich, the poor, the wise and fools in offices and on the turf. But the most dangerous player is the fool.
“I am talking to the 36 affiliates who are going to vote, [to] think of the 20 million Malawians,” Kunkuyu said.
He concluded his speech with a parable.
“To my friend, Fleetwood, I repeat: The game of football is played by the wise, foolish, poor and rich players but make sure that [you] do not create gaps among the players because these people will not trust you as the best builder of the bridges,” he said.
Members of Fam’s nine affiliates, namely Super League of Malawi, Beach Soccer Association, National Football Coaches Association, Central Region Football Association, Northern Region Football Association, Southern Region Football Association, National Women’s Football Association, National Referees Association and National Youth Football Association were present at the event.
