President Lazarus Chakwera Tuesday held whistle-stop rallies in Lilongwe, where he promised to create millionaires through business loans and opportunities in the next five years.
Speaking at Bisai in Lilongwe, Chakwera said the Malawi Congress Party administration has put in place a number of plans in its manifesto aimed at uplifting the lives of Malawians.
Chakwera said one million people would, for example, be given K1 million each to boost their businesses.
He added that another 10,000 people will be equipped with K10 million each to bolster their business enterprises.
In addition, Chakwera said the MCP manifesto has plans for the Tsogolo Account, where the authorities will be depositing K500,000 in the accounts of newborns which they will be accessing after 18 years.

Speaking earlier, at Pondamali Trading Centre in the district, Chakwera said Malawi was not a poor country because it was blessed with abundant mineral resources.
The Malawi leader said the authorities were putting in place strategies to ensure that minerals in the country benefit Malawians.
He also assured communities in Lilongwe that he would continue pressing for good prices for farm produce to ensure that farmers are duly rewarded for their toil in the field.
On his part, MCP secretary general Richard Chimwendo Banda hailed Chakwera for ensuring that farmers get the right prices for their crops.
