Malawi is expected to hold a two-day Malawi Investment and Trade Forum in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania from Wednesday next week, the Malawi Investment Trade Centre (MITC) has said.
MITC Chief Executive Officer Paul Kwengwere said the forum is created as a platform for showcasing investment opportunities in Malawi, highlighting the government’s commitment to foster trade and investment activities and enhance networking and relationship building between the two countries.
He said this will be achieved through a conference meeting, exhibition and business-to-business meetings.
The forum, according to Kwengwere, seeks to promote investment opportunities in agriculture and agro-processing, manufacturing, energy, mining, tourism, infrastructure amongst other sectors.
“Our role is to mobilise the private sector, consolidate investment and trade opportunities for promotion at the forum,” Kwengwere said.

He said the forum targets investors, buyers, distributors, logistic companies as well as local businesses and entrepreneurs.
He said by bringing the stakeholders together, MITC aims to showcase Malawi’s investment potential, facilitate partnerships and drive economic growth.
“It should also be pointed out that due to the proximity of the event, we have seen a lot of interest by Malawians to attend and showcase their products where they are likely to end up signing export deals as it happened in Malawi Investment Forum in South Africa or Forums organised by our counterparts in Zimbabwe and Mozambique (Tete),” he said.
The Malawi Investment and Trade Forum is an initiative of the Malawi High Commission in Tanzania. The High Commission has been engaging with potential investors.
